Joo Chiat, Singapore
Nestled within the vibrant streets of Joo Chiat Road, our project transforms an underutilized open car park into a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. Situated amidst the “old” traditional shop houses and the “new” developed apartments, our endeavour bridges the gap between the past and the future.
The vision is to create a cultural nexus where arts and culinary experiences flourish, celebrating the rich heritage of the area. At the same time, catering to modern needs with apartments designed for individuals who operate businesses from home.
The design incorporates a central open garden, seamlessly connecting commercial spaces with residential units. This lush greenery not only enhances the aesthetics but also serves as a natural heat buffer in Singapore’s humid climate. By optimizing airflow and separating masses, our building ensures efficient heat regulation, promoting a comfortable environment year-round.
Shop House project isn’t just about architecture; it’s about fostering community, preserving heritage, and embracing sustainable urban living in one of Singapore’s most dynamic neighbourhoods.
